Puig relies upon intuition to coax meaning from his raw materials. In this newest collection of paintings and works on paper, his art hovers between themes of the ancient past and the immediate present, earth and cosmos, contour and mass, figure and fragment, myth and matter. 

Puig’s figures seem to wrestle with the question that has occupied man since the beginning of time, “What does it mean to be human?”
